چکیده

This paper addresses the design and implementation of digital unbiased finite impulse response (FIR) filters with polynomial impulse response functions. The transfer function, its fundamental properties, and a general block-diagram are discussed for the impulse response represented with the l-degree Taylor series expansion. As a particular results, we show a fundamental identity uniquely featured to such filters in the transform domain. For low-degree impulse responses, the transfer functions are found in simple closed forms and represented in compact block-diagrams. The magnitude and phase responses are also analyzed along with the group delays. A comparison with predictive FIR filters is given. As examples of applications, filtering of time errors of local clocks is discussed along with the low-pass filter design employing a cascade of the unbiased FIR filters.

Design of IIR Digital Filter using Modified Chaotic Orthogonal Imperialist Competitive Algorithm (RESEARCH NOTE)

There are two types of digital filters including Infinite Impulse Response (IIR) and Finite Impulse Response (FIR). IIR filters attract more attention as they can decrease the filter order significantly compared to FIR filters. Owing to multi-modal error surface, simple powerful optimization techniques should be utilized in designing IIR digital filters to avoid local minimum. Imperialist compe...

Optimal horizons for a one-parameter family of unbiased FIR filters

In this paper, we find the optimal horizons and sampling intervals, both in the sense of the minimum mean square error (MSE), for a one-parameter family of the discrete-time unbiased finite impulse response (FIR) filters. On a horizon of Nl points in the nearest past, the FIR and the model k-state are represented with the l-degree and m-degree polynomials, respectively. The noisefree state spac...

Discrete-Time State Estimation Using Unbiased FIR Filters with Minimized Variance

Optimal or unbiased estimators are widely used for state estimation and tracking. We propose a new minimum variance unbiased (MVU) finite impulse response (FIR) filter which minimizes the estimation error variance in the unbiased FIR (UFIR) filter. The relationship between the filter gains of the MVU FIR, UFIR and optimal FIR (OFIR) filters is found analytically. Simulations provided using a po...

Roundoff Noise in FIR Digital Filters and in FFT Calculations

FIR (finite impulse response) digital filters are open loop signal processors. These are numerical filters, and roundoff takes place within these filters when certain numerical operations are performed upon the filter input signals. Roundoff also takes place in IIR (infinite impulse response) digital filters. These are feedback filters, and the effects of quantization in IIR filters are more co...

Optimal FIR filters Analysis using Matlab

In this paper optimal FIR filter techniques are used to design any type of FIR filter. This techniques design the smallest-order FIR filter for a given set of specification. It is based on the concept that the filter exhibits ripples of equal length in the band-pass and band-stop. The design algorithm of these Equiripple FIR filter uses iterative polynomial interpolation. Input signal has a gre...
